Electrical System Overview

The project focused on the 0.4kV low-voltage power distribution system of the Phase II Water and Gas Section.

The APF systems were installed directly into the low-voltage distribution cabinets to provide centralized harmonic compensation for the downstream nonlinear loads.
Harmonic Problems Before Compensation
Before the Active Harmonic Filters were activated, severe harmonic distortion was observed throughout the electrical system.
Typical Harmonic Characteristics
The measured current waveform displayed a classic double-headed waveform pattern, which is a typical indication of dominant 5th harmonic distortion generated by frequency converters.
The major harmonic orders identified included:
